Aฺll Star Fight 3: Buakaw get the win but couldn’t finish the fight

O ídolo tailandês Buakaw Banchamek fez mais uma apresentação no All Star Fight no último sábado onde enfrentou Luis Africano. O angolano-português foi chamado 4 dias antes da luta para substituir o adversário original, Niclas Laursen, que sofrera uma infecção bacteriana.

Luis, que estava chegando em Bangkok, apenas teve tempo de cortar o peso excedente e subir na balança para enfrentar seu ídolo, enquanto Buakaw e sua comitiva aguardavam tudo pacientemente. Devido a diferença de experiência, e falta de preparação do oponente, muitos especialistas acreditavam numa vitória tranquila de Buakaw, porém, não foi assim.

 Apesar de não ter oferecido risco efetivo, Buakaw foi displicente durante o início do combate e foi cortado no topo da cabeça. Claramente irritado, acelerou disposto a nocautear, conseguiu 2 knockdowns no 2º round, mas não conseguiu encerrar e venceu por pontos.

Pelo co-main event o francês Yohan Fairtex pressionou e não deixou o multi-campeão Jomthong Chuwattana ter tempo para respirar. Mesmo recebendo alguns duros chutes de esquerda, Yohan conseguiu cansar e vencer por pontos o tailandês pelo volume de golpes, que durante a segunda metade da luta tratou apenas de sobreviver. Apesar de algumas reclamações por parte da equipe de Jomthong, os 3 juízes apontaram vitória de Yohan Fairtex.

Cajaíba teve o companheiro de Jomthong abrindo o card principal, Sibmuen Sitchefboontum. O brasileiro tinha a seu favor a juventude, mas não achou a distância contra o experiente ex-campeão 147lb do Rajadamnern. Mesmo buscando o combate e trabalhando bem o corpo, Cajaiba fez um boa apresentação mas não conseguiu machucar claramente o tailandês e acabou derrotado por pontos.

Depois de algumas lutas onde veio claramente fora de forma para lutar, o ex-campeão tailandês e do Rajadamnern Petchtanong Banchamek mostrou que está de volta. Habilidoso e experiente como sempre, mas desta vez bem treinado, deu uma aula de muaythai no campeão mundial de IFMA, Sergei Kulyaba, que não pode fazer muito além de manter a guarda fechada e se defender para não ser nocauteado.

Após a luta final Buakaw agradeceu o público e anunciou que sua próxima apresentação será pela 4ª edição do All Star Fight onde enfrentará o australiano Victor Ngabe em Hong Kong dia 21 de maio.

Thai idol Buakaw Banchamek made another appearance at All Star Fight last Saturday where he faced Luis Africano. The Angolan-Portuguese was called 4 days before the fight to replace the original opponent, Niclas Laursen, who had suffered a bacterial infection.

Luis was already in his way to Bangkok for a month, had only time to cut weight and jump to the scale to face his idol, while Buakaw and his entourage waited patiently. Due to the difference in experience, and lack of preparation, many experts believed in a quick victory, but did not go this way.

Although he offered no real risk, Buakaw was careless during the start of the fight and got cut in the top of his head. Clearly annoyed, he speed it up trying to knock Luis out, scored 2 knockdowns in the 2nd round, but could not finish the tough opponent winning on points.

“I thought I could do better, but he’s the superstar. I’m happy with my perfomance and be able to finish the fight as most of his last opponents, with a proper camp, get knocked down early.”

 

For the co-main event the french Yohan Fairtex pressured and did not let the multi-champion Jomthong Chuwattana have any time to breathe. Even taking some hard left kicks, Yohan managed to fatigue and win the Thai on points setting a high pace during the fight. Jomthong was in the back foot  during the second half of the fight, what allowed Yohan to get the win from all 3 judges.

Cajaíba had Jomthong’s team-mate Sibmuen Sitchefboontum. The Brazilian had youth in his side, but did not find the distance against the experienced former 147lb Rajadamnern champion. Even looking for the fight and working well the body, Cajaiba put a good performance but could not clearly hurt the Thai and ended up defeated on points.

After some previous fights where he came clearly out off shape to fight, former Thai and Rajadamnern champion Petchtanong Banchamek showed up that he’s back. Skilled as always and this time fit and well trained, put a clinic over IFMA world champion Sergei Kulyaba that couldn’t do too much besides keep his guard closed and tight.

After the final fight Buakaw thanked the audience and announced that his next performance will be for the 4th edition of All Star Fight where he’s going to rematch the Australian Victor Ngabe in Hong Kong on May 21.
